First (and perhaps last!) week on the water

As we waved goodbye to a crowd of tearful, or in some cases rejoicing families, we were off for our first adventure on outtatown. We ended up at Pioneer Camp to leave for a four day canoe trip the next morning. Unfortunately our group split into two, but it gave us an opportunity to get to know each other in smaller groups. Although both groups went in different directions, we were able to swap memories and stories we had through a skit and a song. Every morning before we left for a day of canoeing we were given a topic to reflect on throughout the day including barriers, beauty, and brokenness. Although everyone has their own
personal barriers we were all challenged by not bringing watches, deodorant, and shampoo. We realised beauty is all around us, and so is brokenness, but we were able to see the beauty through brokenness. A few favorite memories include portaging (that was unforgettable) hiking/bushwhacking, visiting abandoned mines, and cliff jumping into freezing water. All together it was a great trip and to end our night at Pioneer Camp we had an epic dance party. Its been a great start to the year!
